Destinations

I started traveling in my early 20's. My destinations were concentrated in the western hemisphere, that is until I moved to Poland. So far I've visited 15 countries, nine in the last two years.

Berlin, Germany

At 9am you can still see people heading home from the party, fully clad in leather and heavy makeup

Florida, USA

Florida is about an hour from Kingston.

My most memorable time there was a short 4 day trip for shopping and partying with a friend of mine from Jamaica.

It was seriously a full time job. Eat Shop Club Repeat!

Frankfurt, Germany

My first European city was Frankfurt. In September 2019 I remember landing and getting my bags ready, too focused on my duties. It didn't really hit me until I was walking in the streets and hearing the language.

Krakow, Poland

As an inside joke among friends Krakow is better than Warsaw because it's the first capital of Poland.

This is similar to me fighting with my friends from other Caribbean islands, since most people think everyone from the Caribbean is Jamaican!

I visited Krakow in October 2019 and to my delight the weather was so bright and sunny, it truly lifted my spirits, as I have just left a drab, dark, gloomy Warsaw behind and thought to myself that I will suffer without the sun.

Krakow managed to save my perception of Poland! Hence making it the real capital among friends.

Lisbon, Portugal

After two years of traveling in central and eastern Europe, when I landed in Portugal, it was the first
European country I felt immediately at home. Lisbon had so many people of color.

I had to remind myself of a quick history lesson that the Portuguese explorers pioneered maritime exploration.

Madeira, Portugal

Madeira holds a very special place in my heart because I got married there!

The island is known to have a unique climate all year long, it's always spring!

Mala Fatra, Slovakia

The views of the Slovakian mountains will take your breath away. No questions asked.

Malta

Malta has ancient ruins, older than the Egyptian pyramids. Let that sink in for a minute.

Every region of this Mediterranean island has so much history.

I spent a few days in Malta in November 2021 and drove around the island, taking the ferry to the neighbouring islands , visiting the citadel and the filming sites of Game of Thornes.

Munich, Germany

I was committed to checking off my bucket list item of going to Oktoberfest, which by the way is in September.

From Jamaica, I ordered my Drindl online and shipped it to my in-law in Munich.

It was fantastic! Beers, Prestels, sausages and German folk music.

Nassau, Bahamas

So there I was at immigration, A Jamaican in the Bahamas for a weekend get-away. Yeah right.

I was detained and questioned for several hours because apparently Jamaicans don't just come to the Bahamas for holiday.

I won't go on about this, but... would not recommend.

New York, USA

I remember rehearsing to the US embassy Consulate that the reason I wanted to go to New York was to see the Lion King on Broadway.

He didn't ask me why... but I did get to see The Lion King on Broadway! It was a dream come true that I did that. As small as it sounds, I've always wanted to see it live.

I did it all in the Big Apple; Grand Central Station. Fifth Avenue,, Brooklyn Bridge and China Town. All amazing and full of life, noise and sirens, just like in the movies.

Panama

Panama and Jamaica shares a special bond. So much so, that our taxi driver was listening to dancehall music and spoke the Jamaican dialect, Patios.
